The Chicago Summer Open is always a good warmup for the IBJJF World Master tournament, which was only three weeks away. Unfortunately I was the only one at master 6 heavyweight. I did not change age brackets to get more matches, because I knew that I had a good challenge coming in the open/absolute division.
The absolute bracket consisted of just myself and the opponent that I wanted to challenge.
After my opponent pulled guard, I spent the rest of the match attempting various passes.
The match ended without a score, but I was awarded the referee’s decision for the victory. Too close. A big thanks to my opponent for signing up and showing up. On to the World Master tournament….
